Pedals for Progress

Pedals for Progress provides basic transportation to the poorest people of the developing world with the Mid-Atlantic region’s surplus bikes.  Bicycle Collection Managers and Helpers (14+)  – Schedule: 3-5 hours on Saturday or Sunday through spring and fall (April and May, September and October) Task: Work with volunteer groups and Pedals for Progress staff conducting scheduled one-day bike collections. Large numbers Warehouse Manager: – Schedule: Saturdays in spring and fall. Occasional weekdays throughout the year at your convenience. Parents Anonymous of NJ

Our Lady of Lourdes Foster Grandparent Program

Our Lady of Lourdes Foster Grandparent Program is looking for volunteers (60+) to serve as mentors and tutors to children and youth with special needs in schools, hospitals, Headstart and daycare programs throughout the area.  Eligible volunteers serving 20 hours per week can receive a monthly non-taxable stipend.  Call 856-757-3389.

 

New Lisbon Developmental Center

New Lisbon Developmental Center is in need of Group Sponsors to provide Cottage parties and special projects to benefit developmentally disabled adults in our residential treatment center.  Individual volunteers are also needed to assist with recreational activities, perform light repair of items donated to our Thrift Shop, and assist with bike repair. Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services VNHS

Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services VNHS: Ages: 18 and over. No previous experience necessary. Orientation and training will be provided to interested volunteers. The New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault Volunteer Opportunities

Position: Resource Center and Website Volunteer Organization:  (NJCASA) is a feminist organization and is the state-wide coalition of sexual violence programs. Our mission is to promote the compassionate and just treatment of survivors, their loved ones and significant others, foster collaborative relationships between community systems, and affect attitudinal and behavioral changes in society as we work toward the elimination of sexual violence against all people. We are a not-for profit, 501(c)(3) organization. NJCASA is in need of a Resource Center and Website Volunteer a few hours each week to help organize and maintain our Resource Center, and update our website regularly. General duties: • Organize NJCASA’s Resource Center materials • Develop and maintain a working database that can store all of the materials on our website • Track and keep up-to-date records of materials checked-out and returned on a monthly basis • Read through materials and write brief summaries to be used in NJCASA newsletters and website • Input updated information on the NJCASA website as needed Preferred Qualifications: • Excellent organizational skills • Interest in developing and maintaining organizational systems • Experience with databases and Dreamweaver • Ability to work well independently • A librarian background a plus, but not necessary Other volunteer details: • Flexible schedules are available • Unfortunately, we are not accessible by public transportation.             NJCASA is in need of an Administrative Support Volunteer to perform administrative assistant duties.

General duties:

  • Answer and direct calls that come into NJCASA
  • Some database entry
  • Filing and organizing
  • Other administrative work as needed

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Availability from 3pm-5pm (daily if possible)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Some computer skills

What is Denim Day?

Denim Day is a sexual violence awareness campaign. Denim Day is intended to invite public discourse on the topic of sexual assault, make it possible for more survivors to reach out and find help, and advance the prevention of such crimes through education.  

General Duties:       

During NJCASA Denim Day events we will be giving out a variety of materials to help raise awareness around sexual violence in New Jersey. We need help with the following activities:

  • Cutting and decorating denim bookmarks
  • Cutting and decorating quilt patches out of old pairs of jeans (jeans will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own as well to use), which will later be made into a Denim Day quilt to promote awareness around sexual violence
  • Assembling Denim Day buttons
