The Alice Paul Institute needs volunteers 18 or older to help plan special events and fund-raising initiatives, as tour guides, for site enhancement projects and other areas.  Volunteers help support the Institute’s mission of educating the public about the life and work of Alice Paul and preserving and restoring Paulsdale, her Mt. League of Women Voters (LWV), a non-partisan organization open to both men and women, promotes political responsibility through informed, active participation of citizens in government. The New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault Volunteer Opportunities

Position: Resource Center and Website Volunteer Organization:  (NJCASA) is a feminist organization and is the state-wide coalition of sexual violence programs. Our mission is to promote the compassionate and just treatment of survivors, their loved ones and significant others, foster collaborative relationships between community systems, and affect attitudinal and behavioral changes in society as we work toward the elimination of sexual violence against all people. We are a not-for profit, 501(c)(3) organization. NJCASA is in need of a Resource Center and Website Volunteer a few hours each week to help organize and maintain our Resource Center, and update our website regularly. General duties: • Organize NJCASA’s Resource Center materials • Develop and maintain a working database that can store all of the materials on our website • Track and keep up-to-date records of materials checked-out and returned on a monthly basis • Read through materials and write brief summaries to be used in NJCASA newsletters and website • Input updated information on the NJCASA website as needed Preferred Qualifications: • Excellent organizational skills • Interest in developing and maintaining organizational systems • Experience with databases and Dreamweaver • Ability to work well independently • A librarian background a plus, but not necessary Other volunteer details: • Flexible schedules are available • Unfortunately, we are not accessible by public transportation.             NJCASA is in need of an Administrative Support Volunteer to perform administrative assistant duties.

General duties:

  • Answer and direct calls that come into NJCASA
  • Some database entry
  • Filing and organizing
  • Other administrative work as needed

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Availability from 3pm-5pm (daily if possible)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Some computer skills

What is Denim Day?

Denim Day is a sexual violence awareness campaign. Denim Day is intended to invite public discourse on the topic of sexual assault, make it possible for more survivors to reach out and find help, and advance the prevention of such crimes through education.  

General Duties:       

During NJCASA Denim Day events we will be giving out a variety of materials to help raise awareness around sexual violence in New Jersey. We need help with the following activities:

  • Cutting and decorating denim bookmarks
  • Cutting and decorating quilt patches out of old pairs of jeans (jeans will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own as well to use), which will later be made into a Denim Day quilt to promote awareness around sexual violence
  • Assembling Denim Day buttons

Volunteer with the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA) for our 5K Walk on April 6th

The New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA) is the statewide coalition of the 22 county-based sexual violence programs

Join us as we kick off Sexual Assault Awareness Month – April  2013!

Each year during the month of April thousands of individuals around the United States work together to raise public awareness about sexual violence. Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) seeks to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.

Volunteer with the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA) for our 5K Walk on April 6th to kick off SAAM! We are walking together and working together to raise awareness and funds to support sexual assault services and prevention efforts throughout NJ. Our SAAM 5K Walk will be the first of many events around the state working towards the end of sexual violence.

Event Details:

When – April 6, 2013 between 8am-2pm
Where – Veterans Park in Hamilton, NJ
Needs – Duties range from helping with set up, monitoring registration, food distribution, monitoring trails and water stations, assisting in clean up, and more

Bayshore Discovery Project

Bayshore Discovery Project, operator of NJ’s Tall Ship A.J. Meerwald, needs volunteers to help on board the Meerwald and with shore-based events, publicity, maintenance, fund-raising and more. Providence House Domestic Violence Services

Providence House Domestic Violence Services of Catholic Charities is currently in need of transportation volunteers– taking clients to and from necessary appointments, legal advocate volunteers– offering information and support to clients at court, kids time volunteers– work with staff member to provide children with an activity or play time while their mom is in her counseling group, clerical staff- helping with general office tasks such as answering the phones, filing, and light computer work, fund raising and special events committees- helping to plan and execute upcoming events.  Our services could not continue without the time and talent of our volunteers!  Call 856-824-0599. akulak@cctrenton.orgwww.providencehousenj.org
