The Muscular Dystrophy Association

The Muscular Dystrophy Association seeks volunteers (16+) to help with general office duties answering phones, preparing mailings, and organizing fundraising projects that may be held in your local community.  Candidates are being sought for the Advisory Council.  Counselors (18+) are also needed for one-week summer camp in June. LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation is a non-profit organization which encourages and supports individuals who wish to become professional pilots by awarding flight scholarships. League of Women Voters (LWV)

League of Women Voters (LWV), a non-partisan organization open to both men and women, promotes political responsibility through informed, active participation of citizens in government. Bancroft Neurohealth

Bancroft Neurohealth serves children and adults with developmental disabilities and head injuries.  Volunteers (16+) needed for recreation, fund raising, companionship, office work, and Special Olympics.  Classroom volunteers help teachers and children and provide assistance with arts and crafts and dance therapy classes. The New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault Volunteer Opportunities

Position: Resource Center and Website Volunteer Organization:  (NJCASA) is a feminist organization and is the state-wide coalition of sexual violence programs. Our mission is to promote the compassionate and just treatment of survivors, their loved ones and significant others, foster collaborative relationships between community systems, and affect attitudinal and behavioral changes in society as we work toward the elimination of sexual violence against all people. We are a not-for profit, 501(c)(3) organization. NJCASA is in need of a Resource Center and Website Volunteer a few hours each week to help organize and maintain our Resource Center, and update our website regularly. General duties: • Organize NJCASA’s Resource Center materials • Develop and maintain a working database that can store all of the materials on our website • Track and keep up-to-date records of materials checked-out and returned on a monthly basis • Read through materials and write brief summaries to be used in NJCASA newsletters and website • Input updated information on the NJCASA website as needed Preferred Qualifications: • Excellent organizational skills • Interest in developing and maintaining organizational systems • Experience with databases and Dreamweaver • Ability to work well independently • A librarian background a plus, but not necessary Other volunteer details: • Flexible schedules are available • Unfortunately, we are not accessible by public transportation.             NJCASA is in need of an Administrative Support Volunteer to perform administrative assistant duties.

General duties:

  • Answer and direct calls that come into NJCASA
  • Some database entry
  • Filing and organizing
  • Other administrative work as needed

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Availability from 3pm-5pm (daily if possible)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Some computer skills

What is Denim Day?

Denim Day is a sexual violence awareness campaign. Denim Day is intended to invite public discourse on the topic of sexual assault, make it possible for more survivors to reach out and find help, and advance the prevention of such crimes through education.  

General Duties:       

During NJCASA Denim Day events we will be giving out a variety of materials to help raise awareness around sexual violence in New Jersey. We need help with the following activities:

  • Cutting and decorating denim bookmarks
  • Cutting and decorating quilt patches out of old pairs of jeans (jeans will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own as well to use), which will later be made into a Denim Day quilt to promote awareness around sexual violence
  • Assembling Denim Day buttons
